How does it work? Simple 3 step process:

It has to its credit some of the best print ads and TV commercials.  And they have a website too!

When we looked at the website there were a couple of things we wanted to do:

• Present the rich diversity and vibrant kaleidoscope of the country
• Present enough information to enable visitors to make informed travel decisions

And achieve the above while making sure the site

• is easy to use
• looks clean, professional and elegant
• provides a good user experience
• provides easy access to information

With these goals in mind we began working on the design.

The Result:

Our Take : IncredibleIndia.org Homepage

The layout comprises of several individual information blocks which are used like building bricks (like in a Lego set) to create the design pattern. The Incredible India campaign has some great stunning visuals as wallpapers and posters. We decided to use them as the background for the site. The idea being that these background images could be cycled through in a random fashion every time the user visits the site. This would add a certain flavor to the website.

Each of the blocks on the site represents a certain set of related information. The blocks are also designed to accommodate rich media content (like videos, images etc.), thereby allowing the site to present the sights and sounds of the country in an engaging manner.

We just finished re-hauling the user interface & the visual design  for a LMS (Learning Management System).  The client is a leading e-learning company in the country. It was an interesting assignment since this was the first time we were working with a product from this domain.  We are very happy with the outcome of the project and so is the client.

We are building an application on Google’s Android mobile platform and it should be out pretty soon.  Its primarily designed to show case our capabilities on this  technology platform.

We are also working on a client project which involves some pretty interesting and quirky customizations to the Drupal platform. Watch this space for more on this in future updates.

Amidst all these projects we are also getting lot of work done on 2 of our own web products. It is quite a challenge trying to balance between client & in-house projects. Am sure lot of you are aware of the predicaments and the issues that keep coming up when you walk this line.

When Aradhana & me started Genie way back in 1999 on this very day in a 2 room apartment we never imagined that we would come this far. We just wanted to do something on our own and see how it goes from there, taking one day at a time.  Its been a roller coaster ride. We have had our shares of ups and downs, failures and successes. I will share our experiences and lessons in another post (as that would be a really long one) another day soon.

But today, on this occasion we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who through the years have supported us and have been a great source of help and inspiration.

We want to thank our parents & our family without whose support this would have been impossible. Their unwavering faith & belief in us, their numerous sacrifices and rock solid support has been the foundation on which our dreams were built.

We want to thank our friends who were always there to lend a hand and encourage us,  no matter what the circumstance, time or day.

This might sound like an Oscars award acceptance speech but what the heck at the moment we feel nothing less than an Oscars awardee :).

The interesting thing in this design is that we have done away with the concept of  homepage.  Yeah you read it right - No Homepage!

Pick any page on the site and that could be “your homepage” for the site. The operative word here being “your” and that pretty much represents the idea behind this experiment.  A lot of visitors come to our site looking for various services / products we offer and not everyone is looking for the same. We thought if we could somehow present that information to them in almost like a homepage fashion then it would make it that much easier. So rather than having a conventional homepage that would aggregate information snippets and present an overview, we decided to have a site where each page would specifically talk about a particular service/product or our work in detail but at the same time have information snippets that would present an overview of the company. Thereby making every single page a potential homepage.

Why would we want to do that? Well in a world where we are already spoilt for choices we thought why not add more to the confusion?

Jokes apart we thought it would be a good way to present our design sense and sensibilities to the outside world.  So watch this space…
