An Intranet Application
for a Division of a Large MNC
Overview: The client,
a large US - based multinational in the business of developing
microprocessor chips and in networking technology, was facing
difficulty in disseminating information across the various
departments of the division. It needed a platform to allow
its employees to interact and to view information. The client
asked us to develop an Intranet application that would support
the division's information requirements.
Challenge: The project
requirement envisaged an Intranet application that would
cover the specific information requirements of all the departments
in the division, as well as general information pertaining
to the entire division and the company as a whole.
Genie Solution:An Intranet
application was designed and delivered, which provided for
the posting and viewing of information regarding the entire
division. Each department had its own specific area on the
Intranet.
The needs of each of the respective departments was determined
and accordingly a suitable information architecture was
created. The employees have access to an employee directory,
they can download forms, view company policy on various
matters in the employee handbook, look at the latest employee
awards, see the status of projects, in short, they can access
a wealth of information.
In addition the Intranet provided facilities for employees
to carry out interdepartmental communication.
Results: With the corporate
Intranet in place, the division's employees are able to
better organize, publish and view data. The presence of
a central source of news and information considerably speeds
up information access, collection, consolidation and publishing,
eliminating duplication of information repositories.
