Vertical Portal
for the Travel Industry
Overview: The client
is an organization based in Germany, consisting of travel
professionals across the globe. The organization aims to
promote the interests of the travel industry and to facilitate
collaboration between members to achieve mutual benefit.
Recognizing that the ideal plaform for intercommunication
and transactions between members is the Internet, the client
engaged us to develop a portal that would serve as the hub
of the organization's activities.
Challenge: The client
required a portal site which would facilitate the following
purposes:
- to communicate the aims, ideas and activities of the
organizations
- to communicate news and events related to the travel
industry
- to enable users to collaborate and share opportunities
- to create a searchable member database for the use of
the organization's members.
Genie Solution: In response
to the client requirements, we crafted a vertical portal
site, centered around a content-and-interactivity rich user
community experience. The site features include a searchable
global member directory, message boards where site members
can interact with one another, online polls, news and announcements.
Administrators of the portal can manage users, messages,
online polls, news, announcements and content that goes
onto the site using a convenient administrative tool.
Results: The portal
is currently running and has a large number of users exchanging
views and carrying out business with one another.
