Overview: The
client specializes in executing the procurement and inventory
management requirements of organizations. They decided to
set up a private exchange, where industrial and engineering
products would be auctioned.
Challenge: The solution
would have to meet the following requirements:

of Internet awareness
- support for multiple auction formats for various products
- low bandwidth demands
- support for a high level of transactions

solution was completed and deployed within 15 calendar weeks.
It featured an auction engine supporting multiple line item
bidding, bulk items bidding, auto extension and an extensive
monitoring system.
The application also simplified the administrator's work
by integrating a unique auction posting system which allowed
the lot descriptions for auctions to be posted offline and
published on the system in one step.
Various caching techniques were employed to handle bandwidth
considerations.
Results: The site has
been running successfully for over 4 months now and is currently
in the next phase of development.
